The Dayton Convention Center will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary on November 1st. Sophie will attend on behalf of the Centerville Rotary.
Adam introduced the guest speaker.
John Wesney, Centerville School District Superintendent, presented information about Issue 13 on the ballot. Issue 13 centers on a 5.4-mill operating and a .5 mill permanent improvement levy.
The 5.4-mill operating levy is needed for operations, such as salaries, benefits, classroom resources. The .5 mil permanent improvement is needed to fund projects, like capital improvements and maintenance of the facilities.
Specifically, the funding will be used to:
sustain the strategic plan that develops adaptability, communication, critical thinking skills, empathy and tech literacy skills in students
support curriculum for special education and gifted students
meet the overall health, well-being and emotional needs for students by providing additional staff to address counseling and school safety issues
maintain partnerships with police and local departments
support educational programs to attract new teachers to fill shortages
implement facility maintenance and renovation projects across the district. The average age of Centerville school buildings is 59 years.
2023 Rotary Pancake Day
Our 21st Annual Pancake Day had some new challenges, like learning how to cook pancakes outside in the rain, and lower attendance, but it was a great community event, as usual. The committee will be gathering statistics to share later, but for now, enjoy some photos from the event!
Thanks to everyone who worked hard to make it a success, and especially our leaders, Adam and Sofie!
Next week our program will be Brady Kress with the latest updates from Carillon Historical Park.
Save the date: The annual Christmas Party will be on Thursday, December 14, 6:30-8:30 pm. More details to follow.
