Our speakers today were members of the Young Professionals Club: Ryan Fox, President, Blake Spivey, Secretary, and Stephen Sleazack, Vice President.

Pat Beckel introduced our speakers as part of the group first called 30 Under 30 but now, Young Professionals. They are a networking group of young people doing great things. And we want to keep them here.

Ryan shared the group started with a 5-person group chat at Beckel’s Humidor. There are currently 20 members and most are under 30 years old. They are the business leaders of the future and include eight CEOs. They meet at 6 pm every other Thursday at the Humidor.

The meeting structure includes:
  • Introductions. Some people come from as far as Cincinnati.
  • “Flowers” handed out to thank others for what they did to help.
  • Guest speaker. Previous speakers include Pat Beckel, Tom Young, Jesse Gaither, Butch Carter, Judge Patricia Campbell, Kenny Williams, John Thomas. They share about various aspects of business practices, leadership skills, etc. Pass along any that would fit, and inspire.
  • Breakout groups.
  • End with dinner.
Blake Spivey, Secretary, shared about the change in technology in business. He said those who will survive are using AI. AI is in 91% of all marketing. 80-90% of Super Bowl commercials were AI generated. Businesses who utilize AI will be the successful ones. He uses an AI Notetaker to take notes at meetings.

Stephen Slezack, VP, said the most beneficial aspect of this group is the peer to peer interactions. It is impactful to be able to share problems, talk through issues, and mentor each other. He said he originally lacked confidence, but networking at the Humidor helped him gain confidence.
President Anderson thanked the speakers, led the group in reciting the 4 Way Test and wished everyone a good week.

FROM ARNIE BIONDO:

Hey, you avid golfers.  Here is a cool (in more than one way) opportunity for golf. See attached.

The Fairborn Rotary and Jordan, Ink., host the event to raise money for outbound youth exchange students.  This year, Isa Wright,he daughter of our former member Sherre, was awarded a $2000 scholarship.  That pretty much covers the round trip air fair.

So, if you would like some golf without sweating your brains out, sign up and help an area kid go on exchange next year.

Winners get $200 each!
