Our speakers this week were Chris Alvarado (Outreach Coordinator) and Lauren Lintzenich (Employment Services Coordinator) from We Care Arts.

The mission of the program is to empower and heal through art and community. They believe in the healing power of creating and producing art that transforms physical, developmental, and mental challenges into a future rich with possibilities for a variety of individuals with varying disabilities and physical challenges.
They operate a gift shop at Town & Country selling works by local artists and the Berkeley Center on Wilmington Pike that offers classes, woodshop, and a kiln for their clients.

The program goals are to build confidence, improve focus, leverage individual strengths & interests, improve communication skills, and encourage responsibility.

For 2021, they served 707 local artists, fielded programs in 7 different school districts in the Dayton area and almost all participants showed both improved art and personal skills.

They also offer:
  • Transitioning to work programs
  • The possibility project partners
  • Art Café at the Berkeley Center
  • Mental Health & Art for Wellness programs
  • Adult Day programs
  • High School outreach classes

We are all encouraged to stop by the gift shop to see what is available. If you have any left-over art supplies, please consider donating them to We Care Arts for use in the classrooms.

President Elect Biondo lead the group in reciting the 4 Way Test and wished everyone a good week.

Next week’s speaker will be Pam Walker with Kettering Health.
