Here's Doc Hoback, first to arrive.

Our badge holding box was in need of repair. John Callander tried to fix it but with little
success because of the way it was built and its age. Only half the badges were brought back
this day, John suggests we get a new box.

Elda Gotos Gay came in smiling and in Valentine red. She not only brought a bowl full of
Lindor chocolates for the members to share, but also was praised by a member for helping out in a generous monetary way.

Past President Boyd Preston gets a nice greeting from our official greeters.

And here comes Carol Kennard.

Kisha Taylor came expecting to see four CHS students speaking on leadership and the 4-Way
Test, but only one young lad showed up to give a speech. And a good one it was.

Ron Hollenbeck is greeted next.

Club President Chuck King also gets a fine hello.

And Vice President Brian Hayes brings his ever-present smile and good humor to the club .

The club is happy to greet three new members this day. Jill Reid is one of them.

Dawayne Kirkman is the second of three new members accepted into the club this day.

Bill Menker was the third member accepted into the club. He was absent this day.
Here he is seen last week, the fourth person from the left.

The Centerville Rotary Club met at Yankee Trace at noon for the weekly meeting. President Chuck King led the Pledge of Allegiance. Sivaji Subramaniam gave the prayer, and the singing of God Bless America was led by Tom Groszko.

Guests this week: Dawayne Kirkman of Fairborn, a former Northmont Rotarian. Also Jill Reid, Washington Twp. Rec Center Senior Recreation Supervisor. Two of our new members this day, so no longer just guests.

Menu this week: Turkey, mashed  potatoes, stuffing, green beans and cheese cake.
Menu next week: NY Strip, baked potato with sour cream, broccoli.

President Chuck King presided over the meeting.
Announcements:

President Chuck King thanked our official greeters.

President King said last week that the 4-Way Test participants would be giving their speeches on the 13th and 20th of this month. Kisha said there were 7 Alter HS students and 4 Centerville students participating.  She needs volunteers to help judge the speeches, so talk to her if you already haven't. Kisha was not at this meeting, but President King got five volunteers to help judge the speeches of the Centerville students who were to speak on the 13th. Sofie Ameloot, Mark Febus, Deb Dulaney, Judy Budi, and Jim Harris were the volunteers, but since Deb Dulaney was not at this meeting, Soifie Ameloot agreed to be a judge.

President King noted at an earlier meeting that the presentation of the Paul Harris pins will be Feb. 27, when Frank Scott, currently our Rotary Foundation chair, will preside in Joyce Young's absence.
President King praised Soifie Ameloot for representing the club at Habitat's home dedication Feb. 7 at noon in West Dayton. Sofie  presented the new home owners with How-to Books from the club.

The Senneys will be hosting an event at Zinks, Tuesday March 31st from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. featuring guest speaker Andra Watkins, a best-selling author and motivational speaker, who spoke to the club August, 2018. If interested, RSVP Jeff at jsenneny@pselaw.com.

President King Frank Scott has been chosen to be District Governor for the year 2022 to 2023.
He said Shannon Graham sent an e-mail to everyone looking for people to attend Rotary District 6670 membership champion facilitator training on Feb. 15 at the Greene County Career Center from 8:30 a.m. to noon. RSVP to GSlcontractors@gmail.com
The next board meeting will be on Feb. 17 at the Centerville-Washington Park District Headquarters starting at 5:30 p.m.

Happy Bucks were collected by Sgt.-at-Arms Erich Eggers. He and Gerry Eastabrooks, our club treasurer, are shown in this picture from last week.

Happy Bucks this quarter go for our local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.

Erich Eggers started by acknowledging our guests and singing happy birthday with the club members to Brian Hayes and  Wayne Davis, who each gave $5 for their birthdays.
The song wasn't in tune very much, and  someone suggested that Brian and Wayne get their money back.
Erich said he saw a picture of Jeff Senney in Flyer Connection without his Rotary pin on and suggested he be fined $20. Other suggestions went from $50 to $60 for a fine.
Brian gave for his daughter being on the dean's list at Kent State. Sivaji gave $5 and Sofie gave $17 as a thank you to Elda Gotos Gay for helping out with a generous monetary
donation for someone at Ohio University with a $4,000 debt and a goal of $1,000.  Lee Hieronymus gave and Ron Hollenbeck gave, welcoming new members.
Tom Groszko gave noting that his oldest had a solid B and his 6-year-old had high honors for focus, and one daughter on the swim team made the high school swim varsity and had a personal best, and, another daughter qualified for the Junior Olympics. It was Grace and Lindsey (sp?). Carol Kennard was just Happy and Mark gave $5, and Doc it was who suggested Erich take singing lessons, and Don Overly gave for Alzheimer's and UD Flyers. Jim Harris gave for our one speaker for the 4-Way Test. Matt Kuhn said his son made the Dean's list. Jill gave for becoming a new member of the club. Brad it was who suggested that the birthday boys get their money back for the Birthday song.
Katie Neuberg gave saying she was happy to be back and Arnie Biondoi said his daughter was on the Dean's list at Miami University. Smart kids abound...doing the hard work and hopefully future Rotarians, showing their leadership ability. Service above self.

Speaker of the Week:  Adam Whitman, senior at Centerville High School. Giving a five minute speech on Leadership using Rotary's
Four-Way Test.
Of four people scheduled to talk, he is the only one who showed up, which is what leadership is all about.
Adam said he took leadership skills very personally. It takes a skill to be a leader, he said. Everyone has a dream, he said. He learned about leadership in preparing his speech. He had to work on getting his speech into just five minutes, timing his  speech. He used his hands in talking and expressing himself. Will it build goodwill and better friendship? I'm living my dream, he said. There's no room for negativity. He said he lives that every day and helps other children live their dreams, so it benefits others. Everyone has a right to live their dream, he said. He said his leadership goals are to motivate himself every single day. He said we have a wonderful group here and wished us well and to have a happy Valentine's Day, using all four examples in the 4-Way Test in his presentation.
