They meet every Friday, 8:30 am at St Leonards for networking.

Our speaker this week was our own Kelly McDonald with a kickoff of our Golf Outing.
Kelly said the goal of the Golf Committee this year is to expand services, improve the member experience, and increase donor opportunities. The goal is to have 100 players at our 4th Annual Golf Outing. It is scheduled for Friday, May 10, a week later than last year so we’re hoping for better weather.
Top 8 goals this year:
-100 players
- Elevate player experience
- Optimize raffle
- Optimal donor/sponsor experience
- Align better with Yankee Trace
- Realign prizes to include handicap
- All Hands on Deck for club participation
- Extend high touch experience through luncheon
We will keep aiming for improvement each year. There was an issue last year having bags lined up but no cart to put them in. Solution: Club will help line up carts ahead of time.
Thought on how we can improve our collaboration with Yankee Trace:
- Thursday evening set up main room
- Club volunteers assist with cart rollout and staging
- Free range balls are included for outing participants - better communication to participants
- Pre-print cart name placards Thursday
- Fliers in ProShop in advance of event/registration
- Staging drinks (water/Gatorade) and snacks on course instead of roving cart (publicize where it is ahead of time)
- Putting contest
- Recognition and thanks of event staff & participants
Also we will improve communicating the plan to the players with a better scripting of the event.
Survey results from last year suggested more players, more volunteers, donor recognition, and align raffle items.
We had 57 raffle items and 31 received 9 or fewer tickets, 9 received none. Six of the prizes accounted for 43% of all tickets.
Alcohol and cigars were the most popular. Retailers can’t donate. It would be great to have members donate rare bottles and advertise ahead of time. Anyone have anything they can donate? Rounds of golf go well, too.
We need to attract more and new sponsors.
Kelly noted we really need more people to join the planning committee. Specific areas where we need help:
- Help recruit additional players
- Help recruit additional sponsors
- Day of - cart staging, traffic management, snack staging
- Social media - help capture images/tags to post and publicize
- Donations and ideas from club members
Looking at a Banker’s handicap and identify some weighted holes to give some other opportunities. Team handicap instead of individual was suggested.
Sports memorabilia or tickets always go well. Anyone have a connection with a local athlete?
On a side note, Kelly shared that the Hawaii District Governor received our donation check this week for Maui relief. He sends thanks for our generous support.
President Manning thanked Kelly and the Golf Committee for the good work they do, led reciting of the 4-Way Test, and wished everyone a great week.
