President Adam Manning welcomed everyone to the Centerville Rotary Club and led reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Brian Hayes provided the prayer.

Today’s Announcements:

- Pat’s son did a duet with Bella Huffman at the social!
- Jim Stuart’s guest today was his wife, Lauren.
- The last Highway Cleanup of the year is Saturday, Nov 15. There are 2 shifts so please sign up to help!

Sponsorships have been great this year:
- 48 corporate sponsors
- 11 Rotarians
- 1 Miamisburg Rotarian
- 5 inkind donations
Camp Chautauqua provides cold storage of food
Lytle Grove has done signage, shirts, and so much publicity at a discounted rate
RecPlex donated use of the coffee urns
Minuteman Press provided a discount on printing the placemats
McAllister’s gave some gift cards
This year’s donation grand total is $22,000! Everyone gave a standing ovation and BIG thanks to Sofie for all the work she put in - every business in town was contacted!
The total includes the combo golf/pancake sponsors we received in the spring. Last year we raised $16,000, so this was a huge increase!
Adam shared the quote, “Cooking is the ultimate giving,” by Jamie Oliver (British Chef). Adam feels the same way with service. We’re going to provide a great experience for everyone who comes in the door. A great meal can change someone’s mood, lift people’s spirits.
When they have a good time, they are going to remember, come back, and donate!
A few details:
- Set up starts at 2 pm tomorrow at CHS
- Sat doors open at 7, serve until noon
- Last year served 740, including 88 vols.
- Trying to boost attendance, so Elsa, Olaf & Spider-Man will be there to attract more families to the event. Characters from Fairy Godmother’s cottage will be floating around for selfies, along with Duncan Beckel as Spiderman
- 8-9 am starts to get busy.
Service techniques to focus on:
Greeters - give a warm welcome, keep a good flow and watch for bottlenecks
Servers - warm greeting & goodbyes
Kitchen - clean, calm, consistent environment. Make sure the first pancake looks just like the last pancake.
Volunteers - check in at table, check in with section chair: A-Heather, B-Boyd, C-Ron, Kitchen - Brad T
We sometimes get questions about Food Allergies. Unfortunately, we do not have gluten-free pancakes. Milk and eggs are in the pancake mix. If they ask about a certain ingredient, ask Adam. “When in doubt, don’t give it out.” It was suggested in the future we might offer pre-wrapped gluten free muffins. Will do have sugar-free syrup available.
Adam reminded all to interact with family and friends but don’t hang out for too long. Make the volunteers feel welcome, especially the students who give their time. Many Interact students are freshmen & sophomores, and we want them to come back.
10:00 am is typically the busiest time - all hands on deck!
No active political campaigning is permitted. If it’s a barrier to service, it becomes a problem. Alert section captain who will monitor and address it if needed.
Mark K will happily collect the ticket money you owe.
Arnie B brought his computer and helped folks remember what they signed up for.
Everyone then sang The Pancake Song, written by former member, Don Gerhardt.
See you at Pancake Day!
President Manning led reciting of the Four-Way Test and wished all a good week.
