Our speaker this week was Frank Scott, Past District Governor and member of the Dayton Club.
Ron Hollenbeck started by sharing that November is Rotary Foundation month. There is a form he will fill out for you to designate where your donation goes when you choose to donate. The Club will match up to a $500 donation with club points to get to your next level of Paul Harris Fellow (PHF).
Letters were distributed today to club members that show how much you have donated so far toward your next PHF. Ron would like to wrap up donations by the end of November, so all can be presented at a later Club meeting. Checks should be written to the Rotary International Foundation.
Frank is our District Rotary Foundation Chair. He joined Rotary in the early 2000’s (Dayton Club), became the club Foundation Chair, then Club President. In 2016, he became the District 6670 Foundation Chair, except for year 2022-23 when he was our District Governor.
Ron said Frank is a great supporter of the Centerville Club and the grants we submit. He is also a great friend to Ron and has provided assistance with the Malawi water pump project.
Frank said he always enjoys coming to our club. At the end of every Rotary year, the District ranks the clubs in District in per capita giving. The Centerville Club is 1 of only1,520 clubs to achieve the top 3 highest per capita, 1 in 4000 clubs worldwide that achieve Every Rotarian Every Year, 1 of 4,700 worldwide 100% Foundation Club. #1 in District 6670 for many years. Congrats and thanks for your generous support of the Rotary Foundation.
Frank then presented a letter and banner to Past President Sofie Ameloot for being the #1 per capita donor club in District 6670 during her year.
Also, 42/62 members are PHF at some level in our club.
The Rotary Annual Fund donations are invested by RI and after 3 years, the earnings are split, 1/2 back to the District 1/2 to global grants. $79,000 came back from RI last year, which was all used for club grants. District 6670 added $21,000 from the District grant to give out $100,000 in district grants. As the #1 club in the district most years, we have contributed a lot to support these district and global grants, like the water projects.
Our club also has 9 major donors, and some that are in the Benefactor Society where you dedicate part of your estate plan to RI.
We are 4 months into the District year, and our club members have donated $70,000 to the Annual Fund already.
Per capita this year, our club is at $364 per person
Per capita in 2024 = $519
Per capita in 2023 = $518
Per capita in 2022 = $414
Last year we had a gift from our club to the endowment fund.
Several years ago, Rotary International set a goal for the Foundation to reach $2,025,000 in 2025. As of June 30, 2025, there is $2,050,000 in the endowment fund.
Frank thanked Ron H for spearheading the Zambia and Malawi pump projects for our district. The recent Karaoke night had 6 singers and raised $4,200 through $1 votes per your favorite singer.
The Gates Foundation match has been renewed.
Frank noted Ron H is an expert on the Foundation and is always available to answer questions.
The Paul Harris Society is for those who donate $1,000/year (no points used), and a chevron is added to your recognition pin.
For every dollar you give to the Rotary Foundation, you earn a point. Your points can’t be used for yourself, but can be used for others.
