Our speaker today was Pam Brown with the Miami Valley Community Concert Association.
Pam has three kids and three grandkids, and volunteers at church, Born Free, and Brighter Futures.
Pam said the Miami Valley Community Concert Association is the best kept secret - they have been around for 30 years! Each year they bring in 3 international and 1 local act.
Several people came together for the first meeting in December 1991 to determine their interest, and all who showed up became the Board! The first venue used was the West Carrollton High School and then moved to CHS Performing Arts Center in fall 2008. (It has 1200 capacity.)
The 2022-23 season included:
- Jim McCutcheon
- Nic & Desi - song and dance husband & wife team
- Divas 3 - coming up on March 20. They were semi finalists in America’s Got Talent, perform in Broadway shows and in Vegas. One of the singers, Charity is from Dayton area.
- David Osborne Trio - on May 24.They perform at the Bellagio when not on tour. Classical, romantic, Broadway.
They are having a March Madness Sale - attend 2 concerts for $50, usually $35 each.
Funding comes from ticket sales, donations, and ads in the printed program.
Pam shared some entertaining stories from past performances.
Texas Tenors who were finalists on AGT were scheduled to perform. They had a super fan who has seen every show, and she got so annoying, they had to call the police to remove her from the hotel!
Elvis impersonators included a young Elvis and a Vegas Elvis. The fans were crazy when he went out to audience with a sweat wiped scarf to give to a lady, just like real Elvis did. After show, the staff went back into the theatre to find Young and Vegas Elvis jamming with guitars, just enjoying singing Elvis songs.
They also offer master classes for children that sponsorships help fund.
- Thomas Pandolfi - piano
- Mad Tolling - violinist is coming back next week. Previously some kids pulled out of audience to play with him
If you’re interested in being involved as a Trustee, this is what to expect

- Serve on a committee
Matthew Biondo was part of the group for a while and they’d like to have more young people involved. 40-90 years old is typical age of Trustees.
