- Ron Hollenbeck said the next Paul Harris pins will be handed out at the February 5th meeting. PDG Frank Scott will be at our meeting that day.
- Ron also reported Dave Trout got dehydrated while hiking, fell and injured his face, so he will be missing a few meetings. We're sending well wishes to Dave!
- Sofie Ameloot announced the Golf Committee will meet on January 22, 11 am at Yankee Trace, and Rotary Women Connect meets the second Thursday each month, 5:30 pm at Old Scratch Pizza.

- Uriah A announced the Community Read will have a discussion on January 14 at the Joyce Young Center. The book is The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, talking about the causes of increased mental illness in adolescence. They have several copies of the book if you want to borrow it.
- Kristin H was happy to be back on a more regular basis as Declan is now at day care.
- Lisa GM was happy to get through the holidays and donated her winnings from Texas Hold ‘Em where she beat 19 men.
- Socks was happy to be alive and here with his Rotary family.

- Lee H noted the Dayton Business Journal had our City Manager’s picture so he should be fined next time he shows up. No farm report this week but since he gave a donation, he will tell the story of the Mouse in the House next Christmas.
- Don S confessed that when Jeff had us do squats, he was skeptical, but he’s done them every day since along with the exercises Dave Herman shared.
- Wyatt T will be gone for 6 weeks, as they are moving to a new house close to Grant Park and taking a vacation to a warm spot. He wished all a Happy New Year.
Our speaker today was Melissa Riley Patsiavos, Marketing and Air Service Development Director with the Dayton Airport. Also with her was Gilbert Turner, Airport Director.
Melissa shared the Dayton Airport is owned/operated by the City of Dayton. Their mission is: At the crossroads of innovation and sustainability, Dayton International Airport will strive to conserve our natural resources, operate efficiently, enhance our passenger experience, and serve as a vital asset to Southwest Ohio and beyond.
They also manage the Dayton Wright Brothers airport in Miami Township and a helipad in downtown Dayton. They use no local tax money to operate the airports. They have 111 employees.
They are considered a small hub by the FAA with 60,000 departing seats handled at DAY each month. One can connect to 55% of the US within 90 minutes from DAY. They offer nonstop flights to 12 airports.
Carriers include American Airlines with 50% of the flights, along with Delta, United, and Allegiant (new nonstop to Myrtle Beach starting May 22.) The catchment area is 1.5 million individuals (within 60 minute drive), from Lima to Middletown, and London to Eastern Indiana.
Melissa said they lose passengers to Columbus (CMH) and Cincinnati (CVG) who offer flights they cannot. You might pay a little more for a ticket from DAY, but you do not have to sit in traffic or have a long drive home after a flight. DAY provides the best customer experience with it taking only 5 minutes to get through TSA, parking garage is located directly in front, and it is only 15 min from car to gate.
They are also an economic engine and driver for the region. Also located on their property:

Melissa said they participate in a Minimum Revenue Guarantee Bank. For every $200,000 raised, JobsOhio will match to raise up to $1 million to offset shortfalls in new service.
New amenities coming to the airport include Warped Wing, Dunkin' Donuts, and Buckeye Pie (pizza), a new restaurant named 1903 in Terminal A and Gem City restaurant in Terminal B.
Delta added a 5th daily flight to Atlanta.
They demonstrate a investment in the community - Honor Flight, Air Camp, Military Welcome Center, Dayton Air Show - the Blue Angels will be here this year. The Dayton Air Show was recently recognized as the best air show in the country. They also sponsor lots of organizations and events.

More use of our local airport will show airlines they need to add more flights. Ticket price is typically $50 more than CVG, but you get a better experience at DAY.
