Brian has served in that role for 13 years. Brian is a graduate of Western Kentucky University, having earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He came to the region in 2013 and settled in Centerville.
Brian is the overall leader of MVRPC agency and staff functions. He coordinates the content of meetings of the Board and supporting committees. Brian’s duties include maintenance of the agency strategic plan, member retention & recruitment, legislative analysis, and ensuring proper use of resources.
Centerville, Washington Township, and CWPD are part of MVRPC.
Each year MVRPC looks to expand its bike paths. Brian passed out bike path guide maps for the region. It’s the 7th edition.
The nations largest paved network of trails is right here in the Miami Valley region. These trails extend from Centerville to downtown Dayton and are used by everyone, both young and old. MVRPC has been spending highway federal funds on these trails since the 1970’s. It’s a great collaboration with Miami Conservancy District and Five Rivers Metro Parks. They advocate for all 6 and ½ counties in the Miami Valley.
The network of trails, roadways, and transit systems impact close to one (1) million people.
We have wonderful amenities here, great quality of life, great affordability in the Miami Valley. It makes it attractive for people to live here. A great place to be!
Because of the 1913 flood, we do have extra berms along our rivers for trails. We’re using this extra real estate to create paved trails, and they have become part of our trials network. Another way of connecting us together.
It has resulted in 375 miles of paved paths, off-road trails, and connected trails for our communities. US Bicycle Route 50 comes through the Miami Valley region. You can bike from downtown Dayton to downtown Cincinnati.
MVRPC has done a lot to promote/market our region, such as providing info for Travel and Leisure magazine.
Troy just celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first mile of trail along the Great Miami River.
MVRPC helps by providing funds to establish trails. Parks design and build trails. It’s a great collaboration between MVRPC and the parks.
