Our speaker today was President Adam Manning.
Adam shared an overview of our club fundraisers and what we do with the funds raised.
Hundreds of hours go into planning and carrying out our two major fundraisers - Golf Outing and Pancake Day. Several people are on both committees and he is grateful for all of their work.
Hours of Service by the club - 167 total this year. Pre-COVID we did more, but we’re still climbing back. Many organizations shut down during COVID and as they reopened, they had limitations that made it difficult for us to volunteer.
Adam recognized Chuck King’s efforts for being organized and diligent to meet all of the requirements and deadlines of our grant requests. It takes a lot of work and we’ve been successful obtaining Grants again for  Operation Warm and Dictionary/Thesaurus.
Aid Africa Stoves is an initiative Uriah Anderson’s mom, Nancy spearheaded. Stoves in houses emit carbon but for $25, we can line the stoves to reduce carbon emissions inside the house.
The Rotary Maui Fire Disaster Relief raised $3.2 million. They are able to give grants to families directly. FEMA approved removal of only 10% of damaged buildings so far. Still no water/electricity in many area.
Casseroles of Hope was spearheaded by Lisa Goris May.
$1700 was donated to the International Red Cross Conflict Resolution.
Committees need a lot of help. When more people help, the work is lessened. Kicking off Pancake Committee soon.
There is a new Environmental Committee chaired by Dave Trout. Focus on environmental sustainability. Let Dave know if you’d like to be involved.
When you work on service projects, you feel good about serving other.
Looking at fundraising net around $25,000 for both Pancake & Golf.
Adam was given a standing ovation for his outstanding leadership this year.
President Manning led reciting of the 4-Way Test, and wished all a good week.
