President Elect Brian Hayes called the meeting to order by leading attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Dick Hoback led the prayer.

Brian’s announcements-
Brian reminded club that Tuesday, May 25th is deadline for submitting Rotarian of the Year nominations.
Don Gerhardt’s daughter informed the club he is in Sycamore Hospital following a fall that injured his rotator cuff.
Rotary’s International Convention will be virtual this year and is on June 12-16. You can register online.
June 24th will be the club’s changeover meeting. It will be a dinner event at Yankee Trace with spouses/ guests. More details to follow.
Sofie dropped off the club’s donated items at the Artemus Center and they were very happy with them.
Wayne introduced his guest, Kate Bostdorff, Communication Director for the city of Centerville.
Boyd introduced our guest speaker, Kristen Marks, Executive Director, Centerville-Washington Park District.
Lee shared that the Miamisburg Rotary annual action will be virtual this year and items can be viewed/ bid on at miamisburgrotary.org.
Happy Bucks- Luke 5 Ministries- Pat Beckel was our Sergeant of Arms
Pat kicked off donations to celebrate his son doing very well at the 2021 National Gymnastics Championships.
Jeff gave for a great camping/ fishing trip with his grandson and for being selected as a Board member for our Park District.
Wayne gave for his guest joining us and for the tour of the recent remodeling efforts at Yankee Trace that she would be conducting with Steve Marino, YT Administrator right after the meeting for any interested club members.
Sofie- her daughter Marie Therese left on the 14th for Belgium where she will be an au pair for 4 months and then on to university in northern France.
Carol Sue- her grandson is going to his high school baseball championship which is quite an accomplishment for an 8th grader.
Lee gave for the very nice weather.
Mark Gerken donated $100 as he has missed several meetings and is happy to see everyone.
Elda has a granddaughter graduating from CHS.
Ron shared that a worker at his house mentioned he really needed a car, so Ron suggested he talk to a neighbor who had a car they were not using. They ended up giving it to him.
Adam rarely gambles but managed to pick the Kentucky Derby winner in a company pool.
Carol K.- gave to celebrate Jeff’s selection and reminded club she is taking orders for 50th anniversary polo shirts.
Boyd donated for the progress being made by the 50th anniversary committee.
Dick H. has a granddaughter graduating from Springboro High School.
Jim H.’s granddaughter is moving from upstate New York to an apartment in NYC.
Dale Berry was happy to share that his first child entered the Centerville schools in 1974 and with his grandchild’s upcoming graduation from CHS he will no longer have any children studying there.
Program- Updates on plans for the club’s 50th anniversary celebration next year. Sofie lead program as co-chair of committee with Carol K.
Harvey – Fundraising – club has committed $25K, golf outing next year will target to raise another $15K, a district grant has been requested, and club member donations will be solicited.
Ginger- Club Activities- focus will be on weekly engagements with club members on history of club and past key activities via meetings and social media.
Dick H.- Outreach- we want to reach out to past exchange students to invite them to our celebration dinner. Any members who have contact details or information on them please share with Dick. We will also be inviting past members, District leadership and representatives of our sponsoring club (Miamisburg) to join us in celebrating this important milestone.
Adam- club celebration event will be held on June 9th, 2022, from about 5-8 PM. Have a budget for this swanky affair of $3K and are hoping to get some donations from local restaurants.
Carol- Publicity- Polo Shirts have been created and T shirts to follow. Logo was designed by a CHS student as part of a contest we ran there.

Strong Rotary Recognition to generate awareness and help identify potential members
Allow publicity during build stage
Involve club members in actual work to be done
Worked with all 5 core community partners to identify options
Selected Grant Park Master Plan which is designed to significantly improve the park’s use, impact and attractiveness, leveraging the work and learnings from the Bill Yeck Park Master Plan.
Our project has 4 components
Development of the Rotary Memorial Entranceway
Establishment of a pollinator garden in the 4+ acre meadow
Relocating/ planting saplings from our evergreen trees in our existing memorial area that need to be moved
Kristen shared and reviewed a rendering of the potential Rotary Memorial Entryway developed by the architects of the project
Brian closed the meeting by leading the club in our 4 Way Test.
